Celebrating teachers with jeans, free food

Story by Cat Wright | Editor-in-Chief

Teacher appreciation week kicked off here at Boyd with the Teacher Appreciation Awards Monday night hosted by STUCO. Teachers were nominated for all categories including: best teacher, most likely to break up a fight, and most inspirational, just to name a few.

To show Boyd teachers additional appreciation, teachers and faculty are allowed to wear jeans throughout the week with a Bronco spirit shirt.

On Wednesday, teachers will receive breakfast burritos from NHS and lunch from Great Outdoors provided by STUCO. The Parent Teacher Organization is also hosting a luncheon for teachers on Friday.

Along with everything that is going on here are Boyd, there are also many places in McKinney that are giving teachers benefits.

Chipotle and MOD Pizza are giving teachers the opportunity to buy-one-get-one-free today (Tuesday, May 9). All you have to do is show your school ID or wear some type of spirit wear. Canes is also giving teachers a deal with one free box combo when you present your school ID from six to nine tonight.

All this week, Cotton Patch Cafe is giving teachers and faculty 20% off for wearing spirit wear and PEI WEI is offering 33% off when you present your school ID.

If you are a fan of sweet tea, McAlister's Deli is giving teachers free sweet tea all week, just be sure to bring in your school ID.

Even though there is only one set week to appreciate teachers, it is always nice to let your teachers know that you are thankful for them and that you appreciate them.
