Story by Hope Monte | News Editor

Jmblya is a music festival held in Dallas and Austin, Texas, and this year it is coming to Dallas on Friday, May 3, 2019. This music festival is home to mostly music artists that are rappers or consider their music R&B.

Music festivals are often described as a different type of experience with a very unique environment. Jmblya attracts a crowd that includes a majority of high school teenagers including students in from right here at Boyd.

“The music festival is just a whole other monster other than a concert because it’s an all day thing, you’re in the heat with lots of people, and you end up making a lot of friends –even groups that you’re not interested in, seeing them live, their entertainment value comes out,” junior Abbey Baker said.

Jmblya is often known to have a stacked lineup with many popular artist many people are eager to see.

“I’m most excited for Travis Scott because he’s one of my favorite people,” junior Olivia Bettin said.

It has been a popular opinion that Lil Wayne is a favorite performer that will be making an appearance.

“I’m excited for Lil Wayne because he’s my favorite and I like a lot of his songs,” junior Addison Hogue said.

“I’m excited for Lil Wayne because I remember listening to him in like 5th grade and he hasn’t released an album in awhile so being able to see him live will be interesting,” Baker said.

Gunna, Sheck Wes, Kevin Gates, Youngboy Never Broke Again, are also popular names in the lineup along with other artists.

People attending the festival on Friday should prepare for wet weather as it is expected to storm on the day of the event.
