Softball Plays Hard Ball, Heads to Playoffs

Story by Kyle Keegan | Sports Editor

Two years ago, McKinney Boyd Softball failed to win a single game in district. This year, they are headed to the playoffs with a team that has the chance to win state.

In order to get to where they are now, they were forced to win a play-in game against Plano East who is a very strong team. Kinsey Kackley did what she normally does and struck out 16 on only one run given up. The Broncos won with a score of 6-1 marking the official start of Boyd softball playoffs.

Their first official playoff game will take place on Thursday, April 25, against Wylie High School in a three game series. The second game of the series is at Wylie on Friday and the third game, if necessary, will take place on a neutral site at Allen.

Wylie is a number one seed in the playoffs with a 13-3-1 record. However they are entering the playoffs with a loss which is good news for the Broncos.

With the win over Plano East, the Broncos have the momentum to carry against Wylie. Kackley will most likely be on the mound again and she will hopefully lead them to a playoff win!
