Annual Bailadoras Spring Show hits the stage this weekend

“The Greatest Show” hits the stage this weekend as the Bailadoras and Belles present the annual Spring Show. Many dances, from new original numbers to the award-winning competition routines, will be performed. “We decide our theme a year in advance so all of the dances in the show relate to some sort of circus theme. We were really inspired by the movie, ‘The Greatest Showman’. All the routines that we competed in contests have circus themes as well and so we take some of our contest routines and then add to it for Spring Show... they all have something to do with the circus,” said assistant director Staci Cook. The preparation process and hard work the Bailadoras and Belles put in behind the scenes for the show is lengthy and strenuous. “To prep for our Spring Show, it’s a lot of work. We’re here for a very long time doing lights and stuff so it’s hard but it’s worth it. It’s one of my favorite things we do all year! We get to show off what we’ve been working on and what we can do as a team,” said junior Bailadora Courtney Strommess. The JV Belles are also featured in the show with three routines to show off. “It’s a little nerve wracking… Everyone says, ’It’s gonna be great! It’s gonna be a big show! It’s gonna be the best show ever!’ I think the whole theme is really exciting… the fact that we’re performing in it is pretty cool, too!” freshman Belle Tori Crumpley said. The Bailadoras and Belles Spring Show is Friday and Saturday, April 5-6, at 7 p.m. in the McKinney Boyd High School Auditorium. Tickets are sold in lunches this week.
