The Bailadoras competed for the seventh year in a row and won the Grand Champion title at ShowTime International… again!
The Bailadoras not only won the competition but won first place in almost every single section of the competition from which includes jazz, contemporary, pom, novelty, and hip-hop. As a result, our Bailadoras walked away with the highest score of the competition.
The Bailadoras officers were recognized as “Grand Champion Super-Size” officers. They won first place with their contemporary, jazz, and prop dances.
“We work really hard. We practice from 1:45-4 every day so that hard work really paid off at the end when we went to compete and won everything,” said junior Bailadora Claire White.
In addition to the Bailadora’s victory, the JV Belles also competed on Saturday and took second place overall in the JV division. The JV military dance was recognized as the highest scoring military dance out of all JV, Varsity, and studio groups.
“For our military dance, we got first place. We beat everybody, including the Varsity teams. For our jazz and prop, we got second place,” said sophomore Belle Carley Collins.
Seniors Grace Gatewood and Grace Matlock tied for second place for their solos. Senior Rachel Bowsher placed ninth out of 51 soloists. Sisters Emily and Ashley Turner took first place for their duet in the high school division. Julianna Cook and Callie Rae Floyd placed in the top five in the kick master competition.
The Bailadoras now begin to work on the shows that they will perform at Disney World on March 10, as well as the eight additional dances for Spring Show April 5 and 6 at 7 p.m.
