What to do Over Spring Break

Spring Break is a week for relaxing and maybe even hitting the beach. MISD’s Spring Break is March 11-15. According to travel.usnews.com, the 10 best vacation spots for spring break include: Cancun, Miami Beach, South Padre island, Bahamas, Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Puerto Rico, Punta Cana, Jamaica, and Panama City beach. Here’s a look at what some of these places have to offer.

Cancun is number one for best spring break destinations and has tons of activities to do.

According to goatsontheroad.com, this destination spot has more than just a beach, they also have an underground river you can swim in ranging in price from $90-$100 depending upon when you book. Similar to the underground river, you can also explore the cenotes. Cenotes are holes formed after limestones cave, this then leads to a pool.

Miami Beach has many activities for families like a Millionaire’s Row Day Cruise. According to tripadvisor.com, this cruise is only 90 minutes long but has many attractions. This cruise has highlights to it including seeing the port of Miami, Brickell Key, Fisher Island, and the Miami skyline, and only costs $27.99. Miami also offers a Key West day trip and a hop-on hop-off bus tour.

South Padre Island is a family friendly destination right here in Texas. According to trip101.com, Port Isabel Lighthouse, located in South Padre, is the only lighthouse originally constructed along the Texas coast that is open. You can also take a visit to see the sea turtles in a facility where they take in sick or injured sea turtles.

“I want to go to Tahiti because the water’s really clear and I want to stay on one of those huts on the water,” junior Ellie Pickett said.

Tahiti is the largest island in the French Polynesia. According to overwaterbungalows.net, Tahiti has two large overwater bungalows. The intercontinental resort is one of the resorts that offers 32 overwater bungalows. The Tahiti La Ora Beach Resort offers 12 overwater bungalows. Tahiti has many beaches to visit, but they also have a waterfall. The Fautaua Waterfall includes hiking, natural wonders, parks and gardens, and sightseeing.

There are many destinations for a spring break vacation and there is one to suit every traveler’s needs.
